This wheel thrown plate was carved with a fish design and bisque fired. A wax resist was applied to the carved area, and the background given three coast of white glaze and fired again. The carved area was then airbrushed with underglaze pigments to give color to the fish design, and then fired for a third time. The mat finish of the fish provides a visual and textural contrast to the glossy white finish of the white background of this artistic piece of pottery. Measures 9.75" in diameter.
