This small plate on a pedestal is hand carved with a mermaid and hand painted with water colors and then sealed with a fixative.  The wheel thrown ceramic base is glazed white.  Although it is not intended for food, it can be used to elevate another piece of pottery that is food safe.  It makes a nice art statement and can function as a resting place for rings and jewelry, or other small items.
The plate is 4 3/4" in diameter. The piece stands 2 7/8" tall.
